What are the benefits of health assessments?

Regular health assessments, or ‘screening’, offers the benefit of identifying small health problems before they become significant health risks. This is relevant for all employees, but particularly those who work in more hazardous environments such as those inherent in the construction, manufacturing, transport and utilities industries.

What if a health problem is identified?

Where areas of concern are highlighted, it could be that simple lifestyle or dietary adjustments will prevent the development of long-term illness. For more serious findings that require medical intervention, we refer employees to their doctor who will be able to advise further.

Do employees need to do anything before attending an assessment?

Full details on any pre-assessment requirements will be provided beforehand, such as not eating or drinking for a period before a blood test or the need for loose sleeves if blood pressure is to be measured.

Why not simply recommend medical check-ups with a GP?

Our assessments and health advice are delivered with a clear understanding of your organisation and the industry it operates in. For example, GPs are less able to fully assess suitability for work when faced with some illnesses. With a full knowledge of an employee’s role within your organisation, we may be able to avoid ‘signing off’ unnecessarily.

Will employees understand the health advice?

Our health advice is always clear, concise and relevant. We also provide written information that employees can take away with them.

How reliable are the tests?

We use up-to-date clinical testing techniques that have been shown to be reliable. Our equipment is regularly tested through NEQUAS (the National External Quality Assurance Scheme) to ensure that accuracy is maintained at all times.
