Heart Check

Heart checks are one of the most common assessments we carry out, and rightly so. Heart disease is by far the most prominent cause of death in the UK, with approximately 300,000 people suffering from heart attacks each year. A heart check will help to identify issues before they become a problem and allow us to give crucial advice that could save your life.

We offer two types of heart check: full and primary.

Our full heart check will measure your:

Height and weight to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI).

Percentage of body fat.

Blood pressure.

Cholesterol.

Blood sugar level to check for signs of diabetes.

We will also ask you about some everyday aspects of your lifestyle such as exercise, diet, alcohol intake and whether or not you smoke. If you are aware of any relevant family medical history details, this helps us to highlight any hereditary considerations.

Our specialist software uses all of this information to calculate your cardiovascular risk. If we discover a higher than normal level of risk, then we provide simple, practical advice on how you can improve your cardiovascular health. If the risk is more significant, then the best course of action may be for you to visit one of our occupational health advisors or your doctor. We will of course advise you if we feel this is the case.

Test Duration: Approximately 30 minutes.

Our shorter primary heart check focuses on cholesterol and blood pressure in addition to lifestyle and family history details.

Test Duration: Approximately 15 minutes.
